GM and French Automaker Peugeot Announce Production Alliance

French car maker Peugeot and American GM have announced they will create a stronger alliance to produce cars mostly for the European market. The new deal is an extension of the agreement both companies had in place since last year. With the previous agreement Peugeot and GM were sharing some aspects of production while marketing vehicle  with its own name and brands.

The new agreement has the possibility of extent it to other markets outside Europe

The concept of sharing parts of production was first introduced by German automaker as a way to save production cost. With it companies share the production of parts like chassis.

GM CEO said that in the future the agreement can include Russia and South America a move that would help GM gain expertise on the manufacturing of small vehicles, an area where the French maker has focus for the past years.

The alliance will generate savings close to $2 billion and will introduce its first cars by 2016.

Nissan to Add a New Cheaper Leaf to Production Line

Nissan has announced it will add a newer line of its leaf model. A cheaper, more affordable version. The new line will be produced in the companies plan in Tennessee. (need a fast towing service in nyc )

Automakers reported that 2012 was the best year in sales since 2008. It was also the highest jump in sales in almost 30 years.

Challenging Times for the Electric Carmaker Fisker in 2013

After 1 year of its market introduction, eco friendly car maker Fisker will be facing a good amount of issues in 2013. To start it will need to stop production until its battery supplier A123 emerge from Bankruptcy.A Chinese company is the new owner of A123 and so far it is not clear if they will continue to supply batteries for Fisker.

The car maker made headlines in 2012 with the introduction of its hybrid luxury sedan. The brand right away gained the support and business of big celebrities like Justin Bieber and Leonardo DiCaprio who each bough a Fisker. The company's CEO has said that if not other battery supplier can be found, it would run out of inventory by spring 2013.
